Are religious people unlikely to ever see the truth because they can never admit that their religion is wrong?

Isn’t there some expression that goes something like, “The path to enlightenment is having the courage to admit when you’re wrong”? Religious people can never admit that they’re wrong, right? Just look at creationists; if they have a domestic cat or dog, the evidence for evolution is right there in front of them, drooling on their slippers or scratching up the sofa, but they refuse to accept evolution. They insist that their stupid creation myth cannot possibly be wrong. They can never be enlightened because they will never admit they are wrong, right?
